The Smiths - There Is a Light that Never Goes Out

E' che, l'amica (si può definire così una persona che non hai mai visto? Con la quale però condividi momenti epistolari. Non passioni amorose, non momenti pesi di vita, tu non sei il suo insegnante, lei non è la tua amante. Scrivete lettere, tutto qua. Allora, si può definire "amica"? Forse no. Ma nell'attesa di un termine migliore, la grammatica avrebbe soprasseduto.) me l'aveva consigliata. Io ero rimasto a Romeo and Juliet dei Dire Straits, Total Eclipse of the Heart di Bonnie Tyler, Nothing Compares to You di Sinead O'Connor e forse I'll Be Your Mirror dei Velvet Underground; e lei m'aveva detto di provare questa, come canzone d'amore seria.  E allora avevo inziato ad ascoltare. Perché: "And if a double-decker bus, crashes into us, to die by your side, is such a heavenly way to die, And if a ten-ton truck, kills the both of us, to die by your side,  well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine" era qualcosa non solo di profondo, senza il bisogno degli effetti speciali, ma di, fondamentalmente, vero.
To die by your side,  is such a heavenly way to die, sì, era una cosa che avrei potuto pensare, nella mia vita passata.

Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
And they're young and alive
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Anymore

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and I
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their
Home, and I'm welcome no more

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought Oh God, my chance has come at last
(But then a strange fear gripped me and I
Just couldn't ask)

Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one, da ...
Oh, I haven't got one

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

Oh, There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out

  1. Ah, questa canzone e' un classico - mi sento vecchia perche' il fatto che tu non la conoscessi mi ha shocckata all'inizio ...e poi mi sono detta, ah cavoli, questa e' una canzone ormai di secoli fa...

Consiglio anche 'How Soon is Now'...anche se molto deprimente....

  2. @asphodelia buffo, sai? quando mi scrisse la sua ultima lettera (una lettera!), chiuse con queste parole (la lettera era ovviamente in inglese) : "'cause Davenne is a human being, and as the others, he needs to be loved. and i can't do that"
